Admissions Policy.

AISJ is a college preparatory Pre-K-12 school that follows an American curriculum.  We have a 99 percent college placement of our high school graduates.
Families wishing to enroll their child in the American International School of Jeddah should supply the documentation outlined below. Please furnish all information requested on the application. Incomplete forms will cause a delay in the admission process. Applications will only be considered based on the date a completed set of materials is provided. Parents should initiate the admissions process when their children are physically present in Jeddah.
Prior to the student’s testing for admission and enrollment in class, the following documents must be submitted to the Registration Office:
I. Documents Required
  • Completed application package (Application form, Educational Service History Form and the Health form).
  • Copy of the student’s passport and a copy of the Guardian’s passport.
  • Copy of Residence Permit/ID (Iqama). If the Iqama is under process, please provide as soon as possible.
  • Saudi students should provide a copy of the family card.
  • (10) passport sized photos of the student.
  • Confidential Report completed by the student’s current school.
  • Transcripts:
  1. Students must submit all official transcripts for a minimum of two years prior to application for admission to AISJ. Students entering during the school year must also submit school records for the current year-to-date. For students applying to High School, a sealed and official transcript from ninth grade onwards is required.
  2. All Transcripts or Report Cards in a language other than English must also be accompanied by a notarized translation
  3. Transcripts must be authenticated by the Saudi Embassy in the country in which the student last attended if the student is transferring from a school outside Saudi Arabia.
  4. Standardized testing scores (if any), or a letter from school stating that the student did not take any standardized test.
  5. Special education records (if any)
  • A school transfer certificate from the previous school (stating the date of enrollment, the grade completed, the result at the end of that grade and the date of withdrawal if the student is transferred in the middle of the year).
  • Saudi students can be admitted in the school if they are granted permission to attend AISJ by the KSA Ministry of Education at Riyadh.(Phone:01-4011272). The permission for non-Saudis issued by the KSA Ministry of Education is required if the student is coming from another school within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This is to be provided as soon as your child is accepted in the school.
  • School profile with explanation of grade scale.
Note: AISJ reserves the right to deny admission or continued education if documentation for admission has been falsified or withheld.
Admissions assessment is required for all students.  Placement decisions are made by the Admissions Committee and based upon the results of the admissions testing and records review.  AISJ cannot accept students who do not perform academically within one year of grade level.  Support services at AISJ are available for students with mild learning differences and those needing English Language Support (ESL).  Students performing more than one year below grade level will find AISJ's curriculum inaccessible.
  • An assessment fee of SR 500 (nonrefundable) must be paid in the Business Office prior to the test.
  • Family notified of the admission decision within 10 working days.
  • AISJ strives to maintain balanced classroom environments at every grade level. Placement decisions are made to insure academic ability, gender balance, and international diversity.
  • After each grade level is filled, an applicant Wait Pool is established. Students in the Wait Pool are not ranked. If a vacancy occurs, the Admissions Committee will review the applicants in the Wait Pool and make an election after taking all of the factors mentioned above into consideration.
  • A Wait Pool status does not carry over from one year to the next. Wait Pool candidates must complete the application process each year to be re-considered along with the pool of new applicants. Due to changing applicant pools and different enrollment opportunities at various grade levels, admitted students who do not re-enroll at the appropriate time for the following year may put their enrollment status in jeopardy. Applicants placed in the Wait Pool cannot expect to be automatically admitted in subsequent years.
All fees must be paid to the Business Office before students will be permitted to be scheduled into classes:
  • Assessment (Testing/Evaluation) Fee: SR 500.
  • Registration Fee: SR 4000 (Must be paid before classes are scheduled)
  • Tuition: The first tuition payment must be paid before student is admitted to class.
All financial obligations must be fulfilled before students will be permitted to be scheduled into classes
Students are admitted to the AISJ Early Childhood Program based on observations during a student visit.  New student visits are scheduled in the spring (for admission to the program the following fall), or for one week during the regular class day for admissions after the fall visit day or after school has started.  Students are admitted based on their readiness levels in the social / emotional, self-care, cognitive, and motor domains.  All children admitted to the program must be fully toilet trained and have an acceptable level of self-help skills.  English language proficiency is not a requirement for admission to the Early Childhood Program.
